Mid Atlantic #1

MAG#1 hosted a record 15 Masters, 3 Novice, and 2 Fossil teams at the Prince George's Equestrian Center on April 14th. Sunday's finals had to be cancelled due to a Nor'Easter blowing up from the south. However, organizer, Diane Hickok anticipated the bad weather and cancelled in time for riders to make plans to get home early. The weather was terrific on Saturday and the competition sessions ran like clockwork.

Teams were selected by random by Referee, Janey MacFawn for both morning and afternoon Masters sessions. Everyone had a change to play against teams that they normally might not get the chance. Some tough sessions were seen by riders, parents, and volunteers.

MGAA was proudly hosting a team from Australia who had been visiting with us for the past two weeks. Thanks to the Cone Family for providing room & board for their visit!!! We hope they had a good visit and enjoyed the competition.

Thanks also to Referee, Janey MacFawn who ran a tight ship so to speak. Janey was assisted by several Assistant Refs and Judges (too numerous to list but we love you!) TD, Stacey Calhoun also was on hand to give Janey a hand when needed and to answer questions from riders and parents.

Thanks to our equipment crew chief, Charlie Hickok who kept his crew running efficiently and on time. A big thanks to all the equipment crew!!! Thanks also to Shelley Hoke, Scorer.

Diane, you did another great job and organized our biggest competition yet!!!! Thanks, thanks, thanks!!

Thanks go to Curtis Schelling, out new MGAAGear Manager. He provided 6 large boxes of new MGAAGear (new color - royal blue) which was descended upon like locust!!! I took home only 2 boxes of clothing. I guess Curtis will be ordering new Gear for MAG#2. Wonder what he will bring next!!
