Games riders and supporters - mark your calendars now for the Third Annual MGAA National Competition, to be held at Gloucester County Dream Park in Logan County Township, NJ. Join your friends in the Mounted Games community for 3 exciting days of head to head team competition, social events, informal get-togethers and just plain fun. All mounted games riders are invited to participate in this event – you do NOT need to be a member of MGAA to attend. Entry forms will be available on the MGAA website March 11. 

You may enter as a team or an individual to be placed on a team. Entries will be accepted on a first come basis by postmark. A completed entry consists of check and all paperwork in the show secretary’s hands, incomplete entries will not be accepted. For a team entry, all riders’ checks and paperwork for team must be in the show secretary’s hands. The organizer reserves the right to form 5 man teams from individual entries, and reserves the right to close entries early if the facility capacity is reached. Opening Date is March 11, 2010. Closing date is May 24, 2010.   All entries received after the division capacity has been reached will be put on a waiting list.  Late or incomplete entries will be charged an extra $25 processing fee.

  DIVISIONS

Divisions: Competition Format is TRADITIONAL TEAMS (GR2.1)


All divisions will play three preliminary sessions and one final session.

  • Fossils:  Maximum 6 Fossil Teams accepted. This division is open to adults who want to enjoy mounted games at a less intense competitive level.  (GR4.5)
     

  • Intermediate: Maximum 12 Intermediate Teams accepted. This division is open to riders who can negotiate the games skills with confidence and control, mostly at the canter, sometimes at the trot. (GR4.3)
     

  • Masters: Maximum 18 Masters Teams accepted. This division is open to riders who can negotiate all aspects of mounted games with confidence and control while playing mostly at the gallop. (GR4.4)

  • $100 for MGAA and MGAC members
  • $120 for non-MGAA, non-MGAC members

  OTHER ACTIVITIES

  • Thursday BBQ:  MGAA will host a free Welcome BBQ for all attendees at the Dream Park on Thursday evening.   Please sign up on the entry form. 
     
  • Awards Banquet/Dinner Dance: To cap off MGAA Nationals our Awards Banquet and Dance will be held Saturday night from 7-12 pm at the Dream Park Annex Building onsite at the Park.  Door prizes, fantastic music, and the awarding of Nationals prizes will all be part of the evening. Tickets are $25 per person, please note the # of tickets on the entry form.   Dinner will include appetizers, salad, an entree and dessert. Cash bar. Music provided by DJ Shorty Rock  www.djshortyrock.com.    All riders, family members, friends, and volunteers are welcome to attend. Semiformal attire is encouraged.
     
  GENERAL INFORMATION

DOGS MUST BE LEASHED AT ALL TIMES, PLEASE!!! ·

WEATHER PLANS: This competition will be played outdoors in all-weather arena (360x190), rain or shine.

PAYMENT: Please make checks out to MGAA

FOOD: There will be a food concession at the park providing breakfast, lunch, snacks and beverages. ·

AWARDS: Awards will be presented at the Awards Banquet on Saturday, with the exception of ribbons which will be handed out at the immediate conclusion of each final. The total points earned by each team during the Thursday and Friday heats will determine the team’s Saturday Final heat placement. (A Finals, B Finals, etc.) ·

STABLING: Stalls are 10’x10’ with rubber mats.  Stalls fees are $20 per night.  Tack/feed stalls are also $20 per night.  Stalls will need to stripped at close of competition.

SHAVINGS: Shavings are NOT available for purchase at the Dream Park.  There are feed and tack stores in the area.

WATER: Water is available on the Dream Park grounds.  There are 24 wash stall spaces.  Please bring a hose for your team to use, hoses not provided. 

VENDORS: Vendors are welcome to set up booths at MGAA Nationals.  Cost is $50 per day per booth. Contact the organizer if interested.

MGAAGear:  MGAA Gear (t-shirts, hoodies, sweats, shorts, caps, etc) will be on sale at MGAA Nationals.  Each competitor will receive a free t-shirt commemorating the 3rd  MGAA Nationals as part of their Welcome packet.  Extra MGAA Nationals 2010 t-shirts can be purchased at the Dream Park for $15 as supplies last, or ordered in advance.  If you want to make sure you get the MGAA Nationals 2010 t-shirt; please pre-order on the entry form.

ENTRY FORM:  The MGAA Entry form is in a Microsoft Word Form format which means that you are able to download it from the MGAA website, fill in the form electronically, save it, and then email it directly to the Show Secretary, Stacey Calhoun.  This will allow you to notify Stacey that your paperwork is on its way. You must still print out the completed form and snail mail it to Stacey along with your signed release form, medical release, pony coggins, and check made out to MGAA.  The entry is not completed until all paperwork and the payment is in Stacey’s hands.

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS: To host a successful MGAA Nationals event, we need the help of many dedicated and hardworking volunteers.  To ensure that no volunteer is over worked, Julie Whitehair as head of Volunteer Coordination will be assigning tasks and setting the volunteer schedule.  Please contact Julie with the tasks you can help out with and the times you are available: whitehairs@hotmail.com.  All riders will be required to help out with equipment or other tasks.

TEAM COLORS:  The Referee and Judges will be calling the finish on races.  To make it easier to call the finish of races when there are five or more lanes, the organizer has the right to ask a team to change the colors of their shirt/polos/helmet covers/saddle pads. The team whose complete entry is received by the Show Secretary first will have the rights to use the specified shirt color throughout the competition.  The Show Secretary will make every attempt to notify teams of conflicts after the Closing Date. Team colors are determined within each Division.  No rider is allowed to wear TANK TOPS OR SPORTS BRAS as team apparel during the competition heats or finals. 

WHITE HAT BANDS:  All teams must bring a white hat band or white hat cover for use by their team members.

VET:   There will be a vet performing jogs for soundness. The vet will be also be available to examine, treat and refer ponies for treatment if needed. MGAA is paying for the vet’s time on the grounds. Treatment for ailments and injuries are the financial responsibilities of the pony owners.  Dream Park is 45 minutes from the New Bolton Center.

JOGS:  All ponies will be jogged for soundness in bridle and saddle, prior to each riding session.

STALL CARDS: Stalls cards required for all ponies stabled at the Park during the entire event.  Please include a picture or description of your pony; your pony’s name, age, sex, and size; your name and contact number.  Only tape may be used to affix stall cards to stall and must be removed at the end of the competition.

EMT:  There will be an EMT on the grounds during the competition hours. 

FARRIER:  A farrier will be available on an on call basis.

HEALTH CERTIFICATES:  Any horse stabled outside NJ is required to have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection signed by a licensed vet within 30 days of the date of Nationals.

DREAM PARK RULES: No roller skates, skateboards, roller blades permitted at the park.  No minors permitted on any type of wheeled vehicle including, but not limited to, bicycles and scooters.  No smoking in any building including stabling pavilions.

REFUND POLICY: Refunds will be offered on the following basis.  Refund requested by May 24 – Full amount refunded.  By June 10 – 50% of entry fee, full amount of stall, RV and banquet fee. After June 10 – no refunds.

  ACCOMMODATIONS

Dream Park RV Camping

Dream Park CAMPING: The Dream Park  has 66 RV camping sites with water & electrical hookups available ($20 per night).  No dump station, and grey water must be contained. There is a bath house with showers at the campground. Any vehicle using a site will be charged $20 per night. Please contact the organizer if you have any questions.

  • NO TENT CAMPING.
  • NO OPEN FIRES PERMITTED.
  • No horses allowed in camping area.

MGAA Hotels

From the North: 295 South toward the Del.   Memorial Bridge -Take right fork onto US-130 South toward Bridgeport/Com Barry Bridge (Exit 13) Go 2.1 miles - Continue on 130S - Pass under gray lift bridge and look for park entrance 1/4 mile on the right at High Hill Road intersection.

From the South: 295 North over Del. Memorial Bridge - Continue on 295 North toward Trenton for 11 miles - Take Exit 10, Center Square Road - Turn left and go approx. 1.5 miles - Turn right on 130 North approx. 1 mile - Look for park entrance on the left at the High Hill Road intersection
